For cars and light trailers up to 3500kg, UK law states that the tread depth across the central three quarters of each tyre for the whole of its circumference in an unbroken line must be at least 1.6mm. When did you last check your tyres?

 

Worn tyres will inevitably mean your stopping distance, particularly in the wet, is greatly increased. This may have serious consequences next time you have to brake sharply.
